About the CEO

Spencer Hill embodies authentic human connection and equity in action.

Working in the nonprofit sector for more than 12 years in multiple roles, including as a direct-service program team member and as a head of strategic programs and partnerships at a national director level, Spencer has a wealth of knowledge in organizational culture, Diversity Equity & Inclusion-centered strategy, and assessment of programs, systems and processes.

From his own lived experience as a biracial Black man in the Pacific Northwest — growing up in a predominantly white community with oppressive systems — he has learned the importance of creating equitable spaces for all people systematically marginalized by our society. As a dedicated professional, as a father, and in every role he fills, the all-encompassing work of Spencer’s life has been to navigate a pathway through inequitable systems and structures to a place where he and his family and his community can thrive.

Spencer’s personal mission is to empower organizations — supporting their journey of developing strong leaders, creating healthy work environments, prioritizing DEI work, shifting mindsets from saviorism to empowerment, and functioning more efficiently toward their own unique missions. Through powerful storytelling, critical assessment, and coaching others, he specializes in connecting with people to catalyze meaningful, lasting change.

Spencer has worked with youth and families for more than 17 years in a mentorship role. He is certified in therapeutic mentoring and an expert in motivational interviewing, and he has a proven track record in effectively supporting individual goal-setting and creating strategies to ensure high individual success rates.

As a board member for Project 48, Spencer helps to ensure that children impacted by foster care have access to high-quality resources as they transition into care within the first 48 hours. He also served as a My Brother’s Keeper Ambassador, connecting young Black men to mentorship opportunities within their community across the country.

Spencer holds a B.S. in interpersonal communication with a minor in Black studies from Portland State University. He continues to live in his hometown of Portland, Ore., with his fiancé, Julie, and their son, Jayden, and puppy, Zoey. He enjoys music, nature, and slowly becoming his father.

The power of positive relationships is healing for all.

Let’s connect.
